March is always a fun time of year because the leprechauns come out to play! One of my favorite activities to have a little fun with is this St. Patrick’s Day Read and Write the Room Activity. I used this activity in my centers. The students loved getting out of their seats and hunting for words and pictures in the classroom. It was a fun and easy way for them to learn new words and write! The students were having so much fun they had no idea that I had differentiated it according to what group they were in! It was easy to set up, too! Here’s what I did:
I posted words and cards around the classroom.
Each student had a clipboard and, depending on what activity they were doing, a recording sheet. This is a matching sheet. Students would find the picture in the room and write the word next to the picture.
This is a writing sheet. The students would find a word and write a sentence using the word they found.
This is the syllable recording sheet. Students would find a word, clap it out, and then record the word on the sheet according to how many syllables it had.
I hung the words every place I could think of.
The students were on the hunt!!
They had a blast! I would love to share this with you. It’s free and you can pick it up here! I hope your students enjoy it!
